2025 – A year of record needs and strengthened commitment to children’s rights
UNICEF Luxembourg’s General Assembly was held on 26th March 2026. In 2025, UNICEF Luxembourg raised 8,69 million € to support children around the world.
The year was marked by a worsening of humanitarian crises, prolonged conflicts and natural disasters, while international funding came under increasing pressure. In many contexts, children grew up in extremely precarious conditions, without access to healthcare, education, safe drinking water or adequate nutrition.
In this context, UNICEF’s work remained essential to protect the most vulnerable children. Thanks to the support of the Luxembourg public, we were able to respond to numerous emergencies, particularly in Gaza, Ukraine, Myanmar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Madagascar.
These interventions helped ensure access to safe drinking water, healthcare, nutrition, education and psychosocial support for children affected by crises. Our community of regular donors, the Global Parents, continues to be a vital pillar of our work.
Their flexible and predictable support enables UNICEF to allocate resources where and when they are most needed, sustain long term programmes, strengthen essential systems and respond rapidly to emergencies worldwide, in order to achieve lasting results for children wherever needs are greatest.

Finance and transparency
The General Assembly approved the annual accounts, which were audited by the independent auditor Ernst & Young S.A..
As the official representative of UNICEF in the Grand Duchy, UNICEF Luxembourg ensures compliance not only with the national legislation applicable to non profit organisations, but also with the international standards of good governance and financial transparency that apply across the entire UNICEF network.
The accounts are subject each year to a rigorous audit by an independent auditor, to ensure that funds raised in Luxembourg are used in line with their intended purpose. The trust of our donors is essential. We are committed to managing every donation with the utmost care, in accordance with the principles of efficiency, accountability and transparency.
As part of a continuous improvement approach, the committee carried out an in depth review of its internal procedures and control mechanisms in 2025. This exercise confirmed the robustness of the systems in place, while also identifying areas for strengthening in order to maintain the highest standards of governance.
In this context, a training session on fraud risk awareness was organised for members of the Board as well as for staff most exposed to these risks. In addition, all staff completed dedicated training in cybersecurity to strengthen the protection of systems, data and sensitive information.

Access to justice
We also continued our work on access to justice for children, notably through conferences for professionals, the publication of a practical guide and a national information campaign on the right to free legal assistance.

#NetEleng campaign
The #NetEleng campaign continued in 2025, with Youth Ambassadors raising awareness of young people’s mental health. A key highlight was a national school competition, where students developed ideas to reduce stress and strengthen wellbeing.
UNICEF City Run
In 2025, we also organised the first edition of the UNICEF City Run, which brought together several hundred participants in the heart of Luxembourg City to run in solidarity with children.
